Back & Spine Conditions
Low Back Pain
One of the most common reasons Canadians see a physiotherapist. Whether caused by a disc problem, joint dysfunction, muscle strain, or poor posture, physiotherapy is one of the most evidence-supported treatments available.
Your physiotherapist will identify the source of your pain and provide hands-on treatment, targeted exercise, and education on managing your back long-term.
Sciatica & Nerve Pain
Sciatica refers to pain, numbness, or tingling that travels from the lower back through the buttock and down the leg, caused by compression or irritation of the sciatic nerve. Physiotherapy is highly effective for sciatica — addressing the underlying cause (disc herniation, piriformis syndrome, spinal stenosis) with manual therapy, nerve mobilization, and targeted exercise.
Herniated & Bulging Disc
A herniated or bulging disc can cause local back pain and/or referred pain into the legs (sciatica). Most disc injuries respond well to conservative physiotherapy treatment — surgery is rarely required. Your physiotherapist will use techniques proven to reduce disc-related pain and restore your function.
TMJ & Jaw Pain
Physiotherapy may help with jaw pain, TMJ dysfunction, clicking, restricted movement, and headaches associated with jaw tension.
Treatment may address jaw and neck mobility, muscle tension, posture, movement habits, and education.
Neck Pain, Whiplash & Headaches
Neck Pain
Neck pain can arise from joint stiffness, muscle tension, disc problems, or postural strain — particularly in those spending long hours at a desk or using screens. Physiotherapy treatment for neck pain includes manual therapy, joint mobilization, deep neck strengthening, postural correction, and ergonomic education.
Whiplash
Whiplash associated disorder (WAD) most commonly results from motor vehicle accidents but can also occur in sports. Symptoms include neck pain, stiffness, headaches, dizziness, and sometimes shoulder or arm symptoms. Early physiotherapy intervention leads to significantly better outcomes for whiplash — don’t wait.
Headaches & Cervicogenic Headaches
Many headaches originate from dysfunction in the cervical spine (neck) — called cervicogenic headaches. These respond very well to physiotherapy, particularly manual therapy targeting the upper cervical joints. If your headaches come with neck stiffness or are worse with certain movements, physiotherapy may be the most effective treatment you haven’t tried yet.
Pelvic Health Physiotherapy
Pelvic health physiotherapy can support concerns during pregnancy, after childbirth, and with pelvic floor or pelvic pain symptoms.
Care may include education, movement strategies, breathing, core and pelvic floor rehabilitation, and individualized exercise tailored to your needs and goals.
Shoulder Conditions
Rotator Cuff Injuries
The rotator cuff is a group of four muscles that stabilize and move the shoulder joint. Rotator cuff tears, tendinopathy, and impingement are among the most common shoulder conditions we treat. Physiotherapy is the first-line treatment — building the strength and movement patterns that reduce pain and restore full function, often avoiding the need for surgery.
Frozen Shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis)
Frozen shoulder involves progressive stiffening of the shoulder joint capsule, causing severe restriction of movement and pain. It often develops slowly over months and can be extremely disabling. Physiotherapy — combined with patient education about the stages of the condition — is the cornerstone of frozen shoulder management.
Post-Surgical Rehabilitation
Recovery from surgery requires expert rehabilitation to restore strength, movement, and function safely. We provide post-surgical physiotherapy for: total knee replacement, total hip replacement, ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff repair, shoulder replacement, spinal surgery, and more.
Your physiotherapist will work in coordination with your surgeon’s guidelines to ensure a safe and effective recovery.
Ankle & Foot Conditions
Ankle sprains are one of the most common sports injuries and, if not properly rehabilitated, frequently lead to chronic instability and re-injury. Achilles tendinopathy and plantar fasciitis respond well to physiotherapy-guided loading programs. Don’t let a ‘minor’ ankle injury become a long-term problem.
Sports Injuries & Return-to-Sport Rehabilitation
Get support for sprains, strains, running injuries, overuse injuries, and a safe return to sport.
Rehabilitation may include progressive strength, mobility, balance, sport-specific drills, and return-to-sport testing when appropriate.
Knee Conditions
ACL, MCL & Meniscus Injuries
Ligament and meniscus injuries are common in sport and can be devastating for an active lifestyle. Whether you’re recovering from surgery or managing a partial tear conservatively, our physiotherapists design progressive rehabilitation programs that rebuild strength, stability, and sport-specific function.
Knee Osteoarthritis
Knee osteoarthritis (OA) causes pain, stiffness, and reduced activity tolerance. Physiotherapy is the most evidence-supported first-line treatment for knee OA — exercise therapy, manual therapy, and education have been shown to be more effective long-term than many medications or injections for managing symptoms.
Vestibular Rehabilitation & Vertigo
Physiotherapy can help assess and treat dizziness, vertigo, balance problems, and vestibular concerns.
Treatment may include vestibular exercises, balance training, gaze stabilization, and education. For some people, BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo) is one example of a vestibular condition that physiotherapy may help address.
Hip Conditions
Hip conditions including femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), greater trochanteric bursitis, hip flexor strains, and groin injuries are effectively treated with physiotherapy. Your physiotherapist will address mobility, strength, and movement patterns to resolve pain and restore full function.
Concussion & Post-Concussion Rehabilitation
Physiotherapy may support people managing dizziness, balance concerns, and activity limitations after concussion.
A personalized program may address graded activity, balance, movement tolerance, and a gradual return to school, work, or sport according to clinical guidance.
